Where the Wine is Superb, The Shopping Phenomenal and The Food... Awesome!

Category: Wine Club Tales  |  Permalink

Published: Friday, May 15, 2009

Our great friends David and Carmela Allen introduced us to Temecula a couple of years ago and we traveled there together this past February and they took us to their favorite winery, Ponte. It was a rainy Friday afternoon, but once inside the weather didn't matter. The wines were superb, the shopping phenomenal (where else in the world can you find placemats made out of bird feathers? Of course I had to buy one!) but our favorite memory was a long, relaxing lunch with our friends. The food was awesome, from appetizers of ahi and calamari to entrees featuring trout, portabella mushroom, and duck. We didn't have room for dessert, but we did finish our Ponte wines! Bobby, our server, was excellent. Our plans for Saturday originally didn't include another stop at Ponte, but stop we did-my husband and I had become members as well and there were just a few more wines to taste and a few more things to buy . . . Sandy and Fred in your tasting room are outstanding, they know wine and they know people and we enjoyed getting to know them. We're looking forward to our shipments as wine club members and planning our next trip to Temecula, and to Ponte Vineyards! And if you print our story, we'll spring for an extra bottle for Carmela & David so we can celebrate together!
