Ponte Winery observes two important events in AprilCategory: Press Release | Permalink Published: Thursday, March 19, 2009 TEMECULA, CA -- This April, Ponte Winery is observing two very important events: National Child Abuse Prevention Month and Arbor Day. ![]() Every year in America over 1700 children die from child abuse. In observance of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, Ponte Winery is teaming up with Rancho Damacitas residential treatment home for children to put an end to this tragic statistic. Ponte associates will be proudly wearing blue ribbons throughout April, and are asking the community to do the same to show their commitment to stopping child abuse. Guests at Ponte will be able to purchase blue ribbons in the Tasting Room. In addition, the winery will decorate and display a Blue Ribbon Tree in the Marketplace to raise awareness, a practice they encourage others to adopt. "Display your ribbons on trees in your home, at work or wherever you think people will see and ask questions," says Ponte Marketing Manager Ragan Erickson. The winery is also encouraging participation in the first annual "Dollar Holler". Each contributed dollar will directly benefit the children currently receiving care at Rancho Damacitas. Throughout April, there will be 2 boxes in Ponte's Tasting Room and Smokehouse Restaurant set up for contributions. In their growing efforts to go green, Ponte Winery invites the community to visit on Friday, April 24th, Arbor Day. From 10am to 5pm Ponte will be giving away 2-foot trees (adorned with a blue ribbon of course) donated by Murrieta Oaks Nursery with any wine or merchandise purchase made in the Tasting Room.* Green Team member and Ponte Controller, Lana Trammell, is delighted to be hosting the Arbor Day event this year. "It is so exciting to see the winery celebrate this national holiday, which is often forgotten. Like all holidays, Arbor Day has its traditions; the customary observance is to plant or care for a tree. Thanks to the donations from Murrieta Oaks Nursery, we're making it that much easier for people to participate in this important holiday." Ponte Winery will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 24th, from 10am to 5pm. No reservations required. For more information about Ponte's participation in National Child Abuse Month and Arbor Day, call (951) 694-8855 or visit Ponte Winery. *Excludes wine tasting ticket purchases
