Ponte Winery extends a helping hand to needy children in wine country

TEMECULA, CA -- Ponte Family Estate Winery in Temecula, California, extends a helping hand by donating $3,000 to Rancho Damacitas Children's Group Homes in Temecula, California, a 24-hour recovery campus for abused children right here in the Temecula wine country. The donations supply clothing, medical needs, school supplies and special activities for the 36 children residing on campus. Claudio Ponte, owner of Ponte Winery, explains that "the winery is committed to supporting needy or suffering children in our community. I was overwhelmed when I heard the stories of some of the children who have been through the program at Rancho Damacitas. We feel it is our obligation as business owners in Temecula to support the efforts of this organization, and do everything in our power to see that these kids have the means to get the support and healing they need. Our winery is committed to providing ongoing support, both financially and through the help of our staff by volunteering time."

Thessalonika Family Services provides quality long-term care and treatment for children in Southwest Riverside County needing out-of-home services. These children, ages 6 years old to 18 years old, suffered mental, physical and sexual abuse before being removed from their families by Social Services or Child Protective Services. "We wanted to make sure to give assistance to all children in need," states Claudio Ponte, owner of Ponte Winery. "Not just children in need of food, shelter and clothing, but also those in need of physical and emotion help as well." Children are placed in the care of Thessalonika Family Services and enter into programs that help the children stabilize, build skills and mend. "At Rancho Damacitas, our staff and case manager-therapists work closely with each child to develop an individual treatment plan that specifically addresses the greatest needs of that child, while working progressively towards a successful solution," states Clifford S. Nunn, Director of Development. "The goal is to heal emotional scars and provide hope for a new beginning... one of promise, purpose and integrity."

"We hope this is just the beginning of our connection with Rancho Damacitas and the Thessalonika Family Services," says Denise Sutterfield, Marketing Manager for the Ponte Family Estate. "In 2009, we will organize community service projects with the campus, and get our entire staff involved in helping these children begin a new life."
