Ponte Winery continues canned food drive because of success.Category: Press Release | Permalink Published: Friday, February 20, 2009 TEMECULA, CA -- Ponte Winery invites the community to participate in its first-ever Canned Food Drive. Started back in January, the winery chose to hold this event at the beginning of the year for a specific reason. Ponte Winery's Direct Sales and Marketing Manager, Ragan Erickson, explains, "After the holidays, food pantries often undergo a shortage of canned goods. We thought we could help them re-stock their shelves by hosting a food drive during the months of January and February. The efforts were so successful that we have chosen to continue the program for several more months. By making our winery a drop-off site, everybody wins: guests can enjoy wine tasting, do a little shopping and have a great meal all the while helping a family in need have a good meal of their own." ![]() As a "thank you," Ponte Winery is offering those who bring in 5 or more cans of food 10% off in the Tasting Room (good on wine tasting or items in the Marketplace) and 5% off at the Smokehouse Restaurant. Ponte wine club members will receive 30% off in the Tasting Room and 15% off at the Smokehouse. "With so many people out of work in these tough economic times, it's more important than ever before to give all the help we can," explains owner Claudio Ponte. It is the perfect time to clean out your over-filled pantries because the winery is accepting it all-canned fruit and vegetables, soups and tuna fish, cereals and oatmeal, crackers and cookies (because everyone deserves a little something sweet). The gift of good will never goes out of style. All non-perishable canned food items will be delivered to the Temecula Community Pantry. For more information about the pantry please visit www.TemeculaPantry.org or call their office at 951-676-8022. Ponte Winery's Canned Food Drive is taking place now through April 30th. Drop-offs can be made 7 days a week, from 10 am to 5 pm in the Ponte Tasting Room. For more information, please call Ponte Winery at (951) 694-8855.
