Hey, Not-So-Big SpenderCategory: VIP's Only | Permalink Published: Monday, October 15, 2007
How'd you like your shipment this month? I just received my box last week and must say it's one of the best shipments we've had all year, in my humble opinion. How about that Moscato? Pretty good, huh? I thought the addition of effervesence gave it a little something extra. The sweetness makes it a great wine to serve with dessert, especially fruit desserts. Try the recipe for Baked Apples featured under Fall Wine Picks on our website. Surprisingly, the Moscato is really good as a pre-dinner drink. I served my bottle with salted almonds, olives and cheese and the salty-sweet combo was very good.
I already know the recently released 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is a red that will probably remain in my wine rack all season long. Last spring my wine of choice was Riesling, this summer was Fiorella now I think I'll be hooked on the Cab for a while. Think of some of the dishes associated with fall--hearty pastas, stews, roasts, braised dishes--and think of what they have in common. They all call for a big, comforting wine, like a Cabernet. Warning: If you love the Cabernet like I do, you oughta know that there is not a whole lot of this wine to go around. The Wine Club shipment took the majority of the wine and the remaining cases won't last long--buy your extra bottles now! Now, the really good news... This month only, the '06 Moscato and the '05 Cabernet will be 30% off for Ponte Wine Club members who re-order them in the online store. Considering that is the discount normally reserved for orders of 2 or more cases (24 + bottles), it's a darn good deal. Buy one or buy a bunch and you'll enjoy tremendous savings. Throw in the free shipping and how can you afford not to take advantage?
