A Valentine's Wedding Story: How Cupid's Arrow Struck a ChordCategory: Wedding Vines | Permalink Published: Friday, February 12, 2010 The Meeting: Like an enchanting melody complements beautiful lyrics, Brett and Megan were meant to be together. With Brett playing guitar and Megan singing on their church's worship team in San Diego, they quickly harmonized a spark. After Brett taught Megan to surf on their first date and had her laughing at his many celebrity impersonations, Megan says she knew, "This was the man I would someday marry." The Proposal: Their weekly surf lessons continued into the following summer where one Thursday evening Megan paddled out expecting to meet Brett in the water as they had planned. After fifteen minutes of not being able to find him, she started to worry. As Megan and her friends paddled in, they all spotted a horse galloping in the sand towards them--and there was a man atop the beautiful animal. Unable to focus her saltwater-filled eyes, Megan finally realized it was Brett as he approached her and dropped to one knee and proposed. They rode along the beach, smiling ear to ear, as the sun set. Of course, Megan said, "yes."
The Planning: Brett and Megan felt that choosing the perfect wedding venue was one of the most importnat things during the planning process. "It had to match our personality, and it would also help set the tone for everything else," said Megan. One visit to Ponte was enough for this couple! After visiting and meeting with wedding coordinator, Caren Gomez, they fell in love with the lush vineyards, fragrant rose gardens and romantic weeping willows and booked their Valentine's Day wedding right then and there. Not intending to marry on Valentine's Day, Brett and Megan did know they wanted their wedding date to be in February. After discovering the date was available and thinking of the many lovely ideas to really get their wedding into the Valentine's theme, they were excited to start their lives together on the ultimate day of love. "Plus," adds Megan, "Brett is thankful that he won't ever be able to forget our wedding date."
The Wedding: The day before the wedding, the rain poured down and Brett and Megan were worried they wouldn't be able to have their ceremony overlooking the vineyard. Lucky for this couple, the rains ceased and their Valentine's Day wedding was absolutley breathtaking. The rain actually caused green grass to spring up and dramatic clouds to appear over the snow-capped mountains in the background. "There was so much beauty and peace over the entire day," Megan recalls. "It was all about our commitment to each other and sharing it with everyone that we love on the day meant for love." Wanting to personalize their wedding, the couple also created lots of their own wedding beauty themselves like handmade shepard's hooks for the aisle, a floral chandelier, invitations and handwritten music for the ceremony.
